On our final full day in Ubud, we visited Green School and did a traditional silver-making workshop.
Green School in Bali is a school constructed primarily from renewable materials, including bamboo, local grass and traditional mud walls. It’s aiming to create a movement in education, with sister schools in New Zealand and South Africa. They have a ‘living’ curriculum, educating through community projects, entrepreneurial learning and sustainability, all in a natural environment.
We walked around the school grounds, seeing classrooms, the school gym and other buildings. It was really interesting to see the impressive bamboo architecture.

Green School Bali was opened in 2008 by two entrepreneurs passionate about education of the future, and since then has developed a growing community, with families moving their lives across the world so their children can attend Green School.

After the school visit, we headed back to Ubud and went to a traditional Balinese silver-making workshop.
We arrived at the workshop and met our two jewellery makers. Both had learnt the craft from their parents which had been passed on through generations.

The workshop involved turning 5 grams of silver into a piece of jewellery.
We had a go at doing it ourselves!

They also offered us some fried banana and pineapple snacks.
We made rings and they turned out really well in the end (with some significant help from the professionals!)

See you in Lombok!
